2017 BAH Rates Released

Share

The 2017 Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) rates were released on December 15, 2016. The average increase is $41.00 nation wide. Atlanta, Georgia saw the largest increase at 19%.

Some areas may see lower BAH rates, however, there is a provision of individual rate protection to all members.  Even if rates in your area goes down, an individual member who maintains uninterrupted Basic Allowance for Housing eligibility in a given location will not see his/her Basic Allowance for Housing rate decrease.  This ensures that service members who have made long-term commitments leases or purchases are not penalized if the area’s housing costs decrease.

To find out your 2017 BAH use the BAH Calculator http://www.defensetravel.dod.mil/site/bahCalc.cfm

To use the calculator you must know your duty station’s zip code.
