Being a military wife is rough but something that helps soften the blow is take advantage of all the programs and events that are offered to military families.
Today the families on stationed on my husband’s ship had the privilege of attending Military Appreciation Day at Petco Park to watch the San Diego Padres play the Arizona Diamondbacks. The organization Buses for Baseball and the Padres teamed up to give us a great experience. The Padres are big supporters of the military. Every Sunday home game they wear a military-inspired camouflage jerseys. To see other ways the Padres support the troops click here http://sandiego.padres.mlb.com/sd/military/outreach.jsp
We met at a park where a bus picked us up and drove us to the VIP entrance at Petco Park. We got to go onto the field and watch batting practice. The players we so generous with their time. They spent time giving our kids autographs and taking pictures with our kids in the dugout.
We were given food vouchers to purchase lunch and then got to sit and enjoy the game with the other families from the ship.
It was a great day and something our family would not have been able to experience if my husband was not in the Navy. And, to top it off the Padres won!!
