USO San Diego 2012 Santa Store Registration Process

With taking into consideration the feedback on Facebook which was received during the Halloween registration, USO San Diego has decided to try a new registration method for its 2012 Santa Store Program.  We will be holding an in-person registration process which will be held at our downtown center (303 A Street, Suite 100 San Diego, CA 92101).
We understand this may not meet the needs of every person, but we are trying to take into consideration all the comments we have been receiving in regards to the phone process not being conveinent for so many people and hope that trying out this new process will allow us to determine the best process for future registrations.  Our hope in the near future is to be able to have an online process but at this time we do not have the resources in place to do so, and we are doing our best to find the most feasible option for all.
Also, in hopes of making this easier and more conveinent for those who work, we are allowing people to send in their forms with a friend, family member, Ombudsman or FRO to the center in lieu of coming down in person
Registration forms are now available on our website at www.usosandiego.org Please come to registration with an already filled out form, this will save you some time during the process. This will also allow you to bring forms for other active duty families that can’t make the in-person registration.  If you are bringing a form for another active duty family, they must be completed 100% and must be legible or they will not be accepted.   Please remember, this event is for Active Duty families ONLY.  Upon arrival to the event in December, families will be required to show their military ID or they will not be permitted into the event.
Registration will be held on Thursday, November 1st and Friday, November 2nd from 11am through 5pm, or until it is full.  If spaces remain, phone reservations will be accepted ONLY through a SECONDARY notification from USO San Diego.
You will be able to choose your date and time for Santa Store during registration.  The 2012 Santa Store will be held over the course of three days.  Tuesday, December 4th and Thursday, December 6th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Downtown Center and Saturday, December 8th from 11am-2pm at San Diego Harley Davidson (please do not contact Harley Davidson as this is a USO San Diego program).
Parking Options: No parking will be allowed inside the USO garage.  Metered street parking is available throughout the day.  In addition, the ACE lot which is located diagonally from our center at 3rd and A is available for a $5 flat rate for USO guests.  Parking passes for this lot are now available on our website along side the registration forms.
Please be prepared that even though we are trying a new registration process to allow more families to participate with less frustration, we are still anticipating a wait time during the in-person process.  Ensuring all registration forms are completed and legible will expedite the registration process.  We appreciate your continued feedback and hope this trial registration change will allow new families who have not been able to get into the program in the past to plan accordingly and provide an opportunity to get in this year.
What is Santa Store? USO San Diego’s annual Santa Store is an opportunity for active duty children (ages 4-10) to come and receive a delicious meal, take a photo with Santa, receive a gift from Santa’s sack, pick out a gift for mom and dad or guardians, and also have their special gift wrapped before they go home. This event takes place over the course of three days where the USO will reach out to over 1,000 military families. This event gives a wonderful holiday memory to the children of active duty military, many whom are not only separated from their loved ones during the holidays, but who have experienced multiple deployments of their mother/father and in some cases, both parents.
We hope to see you on the 1st and 2nd!  Many Thanks, USO San Diego.
